Phase One just upgraded Studio A with new studio main speakers and a new 52 inch Sony LCD; Perfect for ProTools, lock to picture, or just catching up on the game.

The new Mains are SOTA CF-2000 4 way speakers that feature 2-15 inch drivers on the lows per speaker.

This new generation of loudspeaker is probably the finest analog monitor ever designed. In order to translate to your ears the increased dynamic range and extended smooth spectral response of the latest recording media, we are pleased to present the CF 2000 active all cone monitor. Designed to the highest objective standards, from computer synthesis to the final subjective evaluation.

Total spectrum capability - whether rock, jazz, pop, country or classical, this monitor will deliver pure and powerful fidelity. A very clear, open and well defined sound for absolute monitoring accuracy, at the SPL levels demanded in modern studios. Other characteristics that have been determined from psychoacoustic tests to provide the most pleasantness in the reproduction of music have not been neglected, such as a spacious and airy sound, free from distortions and colorations, as well as fullness, a parameter achieved by providing substantial low frequency extension to the lowest octaves.

We have just installed a GML 8200 in Studio A.

Brought to you from the man who invented the very concept of Parametric Equalization, the 8200 has been an industry standard for over twenty years, and can be found on virtually every major recording studio’s stereo bus. Each of the five broadly-overlapping bands offers 15dB of Boost or Cut and adjustable bandwidth (or “Q”) from 0.4 to 4. The lowest and highest bands also can be switched to Shelf mode. Quite simply, the 8200 is the archetype Stereo Parametric Equalizer. Its extraordinary resolution, benchmark transparency, generous headroom, and surgical precision have been the reference for many other equalizers, but exceeded by no other.

Studio C recently received a major monitor upgrade. The DynAudio M3's are designed for continuous high power operation in a correctly constructed acoustic space, the M3 represents the fruit of a research and development program aimed at elevating main monitors above the realm of modified PA speakers. A pair of 300mm bass drivers are perfectly complemented by two 150mm piston midrange drivers employing massive 75mm coils. High frequencies are accommodated by a high power version of the 28mm Esotec T-330 DA dome tweeter, which enjoys a reputation as the finest dome tweeter available. All drivers are ferrofluid cooled, a benefit only made possible on low frequency drivers by the use of custom designed ferrofluid compounds applied to very tightly tolerated voice coil gabs ? a feature absolutely unique to Dynaudio Acoustics.

The result is a very clean, dynamic and powerful speaker in which common problems, such as cone break up, thermal compression and phase misalignment have been almost eliminated. Frequency response is full and flat, and the overall transparency of sound leaves no doubt that the M3 truly advances the art of monitoring at high levels without sacrificing quality at more relaxing volume. Levels from 85 to 120dBA exhibit essentially identical timbre allowing total confidence in mix decisions regardless of monitoring level.
