Studio
A at Phase One, built in 1974 by renowned designer George
Augsperger, is the quintessential recording environment. From
it’s vintage Neve console in the control room to it’s
acoustically pleasing 1,500 square foot recording area, everything
about this room says “classic”.
The control room’s centerpiece is a 14’ fourteen
foot Neve console, the result of joining two Neve’s
together, and thus it features both 1073 and 1084 modules.
There is always a powerful ProTools HD system as well as Studer
2” (24 and 16 track) and 1/2” analog recorders.
Well respected outboard gear fills four bays in the producers
desk, including classic and modern compressors, eq’s,
effects and mic pre's.
A wide variety of microphones are available – 70 in
all – and if we don’t have the mic you need, we
can usually rent it.
A
Hammond B3 organ and Leslie cabinet, a Yamaha C7 Disclavier
piano and a variety of guitar amps are always available and
complimentary.
Seating for eleven, versatile monitoring, sync to picture
capability, a large private lounge and wired or wireless internet
connectivity make Studio A an easy place to spend the better
part of a day.

Legendary
artist such as Sting, Herbie Hancock, Kiss, Alice Cooper,
Bob Dylan, Keith Richards, Harry Chapin, Rush, Triumph, Tom
Cochrane, BTO, Anne Murray, Air Supply, Saga, Tragically Hip,
Jann Arden, Enrique Iglesias, Barenaked Ladies, Catherine
Zeta-Jones, Chantal Kreviazuk are some of the many who have
cut tracks in Studio A at Phase One.
